Legislature Secretary Narasimha Charyulu and Law Secretary Niranjan Rao were taken into custody in the contempt of court case and was later released after submitting Rs 10,000 each.

The petition filed by Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar against their expulsion from the assembly from March 2018 came to hearing on Friday. Looking into the case, Justice B Siva Sankara Rao ordered the judicial registrar to take the legislature and law secretary into custody. Though the court had termed the expulsion as invalid and directed to take the MLAs back into the assembly, the authorities did not implement the court order, following which the court asked the secretaries to present before the court but they failed to turn up.

The court also issued a notice to the S Madhusudhana Chary, who was the assembly speaker when the two MLAs were expelled seeking an explanation as to why he has not responded to the notice issued earlier. It also issued notices to DGP M Mahender Reddy, Nalgonda SP Venkata Ranganath and Gadwal SP Rema Rajeswari seeking their response in the case.

If failed to respond to the notices served, the judge said that it would pass orders for the arrest of the former Speaker and SPs in the contempt of the case.
