The latest buzz word probably trending among the crowd in the metros are the good old cupcakes. The delicious little cakes with thick icing in various flavours, cupcakes have suddenly become the latest food fad among the men and women with hectic work schedules and a large appetite to indulge.

The cup cakes are plenty in demand, and the supply is equally huge, thanks to the emerging baking market in the Country. A lot of online stores run by housewives flaunt the best of yummy cupcakes that can be directly ordered and devoured. Then there are those well-known brands in the cities which are reputed to offer a wide range of tasty treats in all flavours possible. LaBonel, the Hyderabad’s own big store run by the local traditional family is a big hit with the city goers.

Run by Mehnaz Ahmed, the Labonel Fine Baking started off with homemade baking of cupcakes that reached out to all. The flagship store that operates in Banjara Hills also has a branch at Gachibowli in the City.

Likewise, there are many more women who are now coming out of their restricted spaces to become the cupcake entrepreneurs, satiating some hungry hearts for those little divine things.

The social networking has opened up a large avenue for these homemakers who cannot commit to a full time job because of children. The women who have the skills to bake can now open their own micro blogging pages with their home business that has the potential to reach out to many.

There are muffins, cheesecakes and pastries in the offing as well, but the cupcake fixation takes a stand apart. The increasing craving for families to indulge in some fine cupcakes over the weekends is now conspicuously felt in the modern households.

The cupcake baking has taken a whole new tangent, breaking the norms from the traditional set methods and applying new experiments in terms of taste, colour and presentations. The manufacturers now get super creative while demonstrating their product, decorating with the combinations unheard of – candies, crystals and jujube s sometimes making their way up the topping.
