All of us, at some point or the other might have wished to have psychic powers to know what the person in front of us is actually thinking and if what he is saying is true or not. No, you do not need to go do some course to master this art but you sure need a lot of experience. Until then here are a few tips to help you understand what people actually mean.
  • Hand gestures – The hand movements can tell you how interested the person is in the conversation you are having. Frequent reaching forwards or superfluous hand gestures means that he is trying hard to convince you something. The increase in intensity, frequency and reach of hand gestures will tell you that he is either really excited or nervous about something.
  • Facial expression – Just by observing the facial expressions of a person we can understand what mood he is in, as it’s said that ‘face is the mirror of the mind.’ If the eye brows are scrunched up it can indicate confusion and if they are raised up it means being surprised, either the bad or good kind! Looking to the sides indicate nervousness or that they are distracted and looking down shows shyness and if eye contact is maintained it shows confidence and power. Nose wrinkling suggests disgust and flared nostrils means anger or disappointment.
  • Leg movement – Holding legs apart while standing indicates that the person is grounded and confident and standing with feet together displays anxiety.
