Today, the name Drashti Dhami needs no introduction; but from being one of the many faces to have made an appearance on Indian television to where she is now - the journey was definitely not an easy one. It wouldn’t have been possible, but for her impeccable acting , passion & hard work that made it a possibility.

Drashti comes from Gujarati family. When she got her first offer to dance in a music video, she had to seek permission from 10 different possessive family members, including her extended family. She shares, “It was my cousins, who supported me, convinced everyone and continue to stand by me whenever I have to take a decision on my career front.” Since then, there was no looking back.

She started her television career with playing the role of Muskan in the famous youth show “Dill Mill Gaye”. Though the role was small compared to other characters, it was an impressive debut. Then came ‘Geet’, which gained record breaking popularity in a short span of time. It was her first show as lead actress, and a major breakthrough in her career. The show was a big hit and “Maan-Geet” jodi got massive fan base, and she got her first award, ‘Most Celebrated Jodi on Television’. ‘Geet’ was followed by ‘Madhubala’ for Color, and ‘Jhalak Dikh La Ja’, another turning point of her career. She won the battle of dance, ‘Jhalak season 6’ and became a household name and one of the most popular TV celebs. That’s not all, every year she competes with the top notch Hindi film actresses for the Sexiest Asian Woman Poll; last year she was on second position, next only to Priyanka Chopra.

After a small break, when she got married to Mumbai-based business man Neeraj Khemka, in February 2015, she bounced back with the grand show ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek This Rani’. She shares, “It has been a pretty smooth transition for me. And this show is the perfect comeback venture for me post-marriage. I am very happy to get back to work.” Meanwhile she has also signed up as the brand ambassador for Matrix Hair Colour brand.

To remain in top position is definitely a challenge in the glam industry. Without caring about the number game, Drashti always let her work speak. She always chose to keep her personal life private. She remains modest and straight forward despite the three top shows in her kitty, more than 2lakh twitter followers, fans and the many awards. Drashti is the official queen of Indian television.
