With barely two days to go for the festival of lights, traders of fireworks are still awaiting the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the police department for stock delivery from wholesalers. Traders are at severe pressure owing to the short sale period they are forced to deal with and claim that they will have to forget about profits altogether, this year. Though they had anticipated beginning of the sales from Sunday, lack of permissions has deterred the traders.

From the 106 shops that were accommodated at the Swarajya Maidan, only 50 stalls were allotted to the traders at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium (IGMC) this time, where they have pitched their stalls to organise sale of crackers. The traders are requesting the department authorities to issue permits soon.

Fireworks Traders Association representative Kondandaramaiah said to The Hans India, ‘We lost an important business day (Sunday).
