The only house in the United States designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Aldo Rossi, the Rossi House is located in Seaside, Florida — the setting for the Academy Award–nominated 1998 film The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey. Comprising three gulf-side lots with 91 feet of frontage on one of America’s finest beaches, the building features more than 3,000 square feet of interior space and 2,693 square feet of outdoor space, including a spectacular roof deck overlooking the sea.

One of the most prestigious addresses in the Old Village of Rockcliffe Park, this landmark estate had a star turn as the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bridge, played by Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in the eponymous, critically-acclaimed 1990 Merchant-Ivory production. The stately three-storey property is well suited for grand entertaining, having served as a U.S. ministerial residence for nearly six decades. The home has been beautifully restored and features formal reception rooms and gardens.

This eight-acre estate in the Chicago suburb of Barrington Hills is worthy of its starring role in the hit Fox television series Empire. Featuring a grand foyer, elevator, mahogany-panelled office, and state-of-the-art amenities, the 20,000-square-foot mansion attests to the success of the show’s main character, the music mogul Lucious Lyon, played by actor Terrence Howard. The grounds are similarly luxurious, with two lakes, manicured lawns, a resort-style pool and lakeside fire pit.

Owned by Hollywood action hero Mel Gibson, the villas on Playa Barrigona are tropical retreats unlike any other. Situated amid 500 acres of privately owned jungle in a remote area of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula, this tranquil estate features three homes, each nestled on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Not far from the jungle, a secluded beach is just a short walk away — with sea-turtles travelling thousands of miles across the Pacific each year to lay their eggs on the white sand.

Set amid the dunes of the Roman coastal resort of Sabaudia, this chic waterfront villa was once owned by Anita Ekberg, the late Swedish-Italian screen icon and star of the 1960 Federico Fellini film La Dolce Vita. Spanning nearly 7,000 square feet, the private estate includes a main villa, three-bedroom guesthouse, and beach house. With private access to a beach, the property offers panoramic views of Mount Circeo and the Pontine Islands.
