Shikha Kumar launched her new book ‘Logically Stupid, that’s Love’ in the World Book Fair, Delhi. Many prominent faces of Delhi literary and media circles attended the event. The enthusiasm of the crowd was impressive, eager to hear their new favorite author.
Speaking about Romance being the most crowded section of Indian fiction, Shikha stated that writing a Rom-Com could be easier but writing a good Rom-Com is tougher for the same reason. Because it’s crowded aisle, author of this genre works more creatively to make his/her book stand out.
Eventually, readers figures out what’s run-of-the-mill and what’s extraordinary.
On being asked how she manages such vivid professional fronts; she admitted it gets tough at times especially when you are preparing for a launch, but if it’s just writing things have settled into a sort of routine.
Answering about the diversity of her writing, she funnily replied that her book is her romance, but her articles are her sarcasm. She doesn’t believe in filtering her thoughts while penning an article and prefers writing what she can advocate. Since writing is her personal choice and not a money-making venture, she isn’t obliged to please anyone and is here to speak her mind.
Many attendees spoke about their fondness for her first book, ‘He fixed the match, she fixed him’ and were excited that it will soon be a motion picture. Speaking about the decision to choose to write, she unabashedly admitted that it was an impulsive decision post putting down a pathetic Indian bestseller. She feels Indian youth deserves better books and is just trying to offer them an option in their favorite category.
Speaking more about writing, she mentioned that many authors are either rotating the same story or spicing their stories unnecessarily to attract eyeballs. Blaming public angers her, as she believes it’s a lame excuse to conceal their inefficiency.
Shikha is vocal about supporting youngsters and said that India is in better shape and mind ever as far as youth-mentality goes.
She enjoys talking to them and being of help any way possible. Her popularity is also due to the fact that she personally answers every fan-mail and even the request about relationship advice despite her hectic schedule.
Many forums support her courage of speaking on sensitive issues maturely and contributions in guiding the youth righteously.
It was very apparent that Shikha has made a place for herself in a short span of time. Though just two books old, her style of writing, choice of stories and mostly credible characters are fetching readers’ love rapidly. Her books are witty, funny, high on emotions and entertainment.
And as her two tips for the youth she mentioned, ‘Be fearless in your confidence and shameless in your learning.' Stand tall but wise, don’t hesitate to bow to the master because that is how recipe of success cooks.
On her views on the synopsis of Logically Stupid That's Love
Logically Stupid that's Love is the story about Kartik and his boss's daughter Sahana. How they come across each other not aware of other's identity and Kartik decides to let budding romance go wasted for the sake of his career.
It's all about how few logic actually erodes our rationality and overlooking love invites self-destruction.
Life moves on, but destiny refuses to and adamantly bring once almost-lovers back together to combat a mutual fight.
Sahana, who believes in kind-heartedness and altruism, emerges as a hero, as there are many issues only Love and tenderness can fix.
Kartik discovering real meanings and deciding to listen to his heart attracts him to Sahana once again helplessly.
Things had changed; life was different now; did Kartik succeed to make believe Sahana in him again? And what were the aftermaths?
Wish few Logics were little more Stupid, and the world didn't need Stupid people to present Logics for their actions.
Logically Stupid, that's Love
