Artist Information

Nucleya

One of the early proponents of the now-popular genre of Dubstep in India, Nucleya has built on that start to emerge as one of the most exciting, experimental and engaging producers in the Indian scene in the past five years. He has made his mark as an Indian dance music producer, focussing on sounds and textures that are Indian in nature but international in appeal.

Indian Ocean

Indian Ocean is widely regarded and one of India’s foremost bands. They have been around for over two decades, and have earned a cult following with their unique sound. Some critics describe Indian Ocean’s music as an amalgamation of Contemporary Rock, Indian classical, jazz, folk music and fusion that integrates themes like spiritualism, activism, environmentalism, the futility of war and mythology.

Kailasa

Kailash Kher formed his band Kailasa with Mumbai based musician brothers Paresh Kamath and Naresh Kamath. The tracks are written, composed & sung by Kailash Kher and produced in-house by the Band at the “Kailasa Studio.” Combining Kailash Kher’s strong traditional folk sensibilities and lyrics invoking Sufi mysticism, Naresh and Paresh contribute more modern rock, electronic and funk influences. Along with guitars, drums and keyboards; the band incorporates classical Indian instruments and traditional lyrics to infuse folk and Sufi hue to their songs.

Papon

Papon, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and singer has become one of the most recognizable and sought after voices in India. While rooted in folk, Papon has a wide variety of influences and is considered to be an extremely versatile artist. His initial training has been in Indian classical and traditional music (devotional and folk) from Assam. His innovative experiments are rich with ambient electronica, acoustic folk, electro-ghazals to classical sounds. Blessed with a voice that’s smooth and soulful at the same time, Papon has managed to carve a niche for himself as a versatile singer and composer.

The Raghu Dixit Project

Often hailed as India’s biggest cultural & musical export, Raghu Dixit’s unique brand of infectious, happy music transcends age, genre, and even language. His music is strongly rooted in Indian traditions and culture and is presented with a very contemporary, global sound. He has played to over 100,000 people in his home state, has featured in every big music festival in India, performed at Glastonbury, BBC, Later ... with Jools Holland, and even played for the Queen of England and the entire Royal Family.

Ankur & The Ghalat Family

Ankur & The Ghalat Family have been Mumbai’s most buoyant bands since the longest time. Comprising Sidd Coutto, Johan Pais, Gaurav Gupta, Vivaan Kapoor and Ankur Tewari, the band creates charming Hindi and Urdu acoustic / folk-rock ballads, with memorable lyrics that you can’t help but sing along to.

Fossils

One of the most pioneering rock bands of Kolkata, Fossils has been around since 1998 – almost 18 years. While a few of the band members have changed over the course of this long time, the core ethos of the band has been rock steady (pun notwithstanding). Bangla rock superstars, Fossils has fans spanning across generations, and their fan base continues to increase with each fiery live show.

The F16s

The F16s is a Chennai-based upcoming electro-alternative band. The band has been in existence since 2011, and has played throughout India and internationally. Ask them to define their music and they’ll tell you that they play ‘alternative dance music borne out of frustration with a barren and flaccid cityscape.’ Well, we’ll go with that too. The band had also won the Converse Road To Rubber Tracks competition last year, and as a reward, got a fully paid trip to Brooklyn, NYC, to record at the Rubber Track Studios.

Parekh & Singh

With Nischay Parekh on vocals, guitar, synths and Jivraj Singh on drums and electronics, Parekh & Singh came into existence in 2015. While the Kolkata-based musicians have been making music together privately since a long time, this is the first time the two of them have come together as a musical outfit. They create unabashed pop and have loads of fun while they’re at it - something that is quite evident in their live performances as well.

Dualist Inquiry

Dualist Inquiry is the brainchild and solo project of Sahej Bakshi, a music producer and guitarist. Sahej started playing his unique brand of electro-rock in 2010, and since then has grown to be considered one of the leading producers and live performers of electronic music in India.

Skrat

Skrat is a three piece garage/alternative rock band from Chennai, taking their raw, loud, hook-driven music across the country playing venues small and large and getting there by any means necessary. They are known for their high octane performances and DIY aesthetic - bedroom recording studios, live sets at garages and videos in decrepit factories.

Sapta

Conceived by Marti Bharath in 2007, Sapta is a groundbreaking independent electronic music act that seamlessly blends influences from India and the West to produce an energetic and compelling live act, with a global following. Already seven albums old, Sapta’s unique live setup and the crackling combination of Tapass Naresh on drums and Marti on everything else, make their live outings complete ragers.

Swarathma

Bangalore-based Swarathma is one of India’s top folk rock acts. The sound is rooted in Indian folk traditions, while drawing on rock, blues, and reggae motifs. With a visually electric, high-energy live act, they are among India’s busiest bands, having played hundreds of shows to people across the country since 2002.

Prateek Kuhad

Prateek Kuhad, with his unique blend of minimal, folk arrangements and pop rock melodies, effortlessly captures life’s complexities in his songs. His music is deceivingly simple and the lyrics as well mirror the simplicity of his compositions – he’s one of the most promising singer-songwriters we have in the country.

Hriday Gattani

Hriday Gattani is a singer-songwriter from Mumbai who plays live with his five-piece band. Gattani sings in both English and Hindi, and is also an upcoming Bollywood playback singer who made his debut under the tutelage of maestro A. R. Rahman. You can often spot Gattani as part of Rahman’s live shows.
