Arthritis is essentially a manifestation of emotional congestions that arrest most people by their late twenties. These congestions cause the vital fluid in the joints to dry up slowly. Since the problem finds its roots in something that is beyond physical, the solution too calls for a more holistic approach. In the book ‘Sanatan Kriya, The Ageless Dimension’, I have detailed a technique to get riddance from heavy emotions by cutting connections with heavy prana from the surya chakra.

Sit with a straight back, arms straight, palms on the floor close to hips and legs stretched forward. Keeping your eyes shut, do the following set of asanas.

JAANU AKARSHAN – Contract your right knee pushing it into the floor. Hold for a count of 7. Release and repeat seven times. Now do the same with left knee. Finally contract both the knees together, seven times.

JAANU CHAKRA – Fold your right leg such that the thigh presses against the chest. Support the thigh with both your hands. Now rotate the lower leg in clockwise and reverse direction, seven times each. Synchronize the rotation with your breath, inhaling in half circle and exhaling in the other half. Gently bring the leg down. Repeat with the left leg.
Finally, lie down in shavasan. Take your awareness to all the joints in the body one by one; strengthen them with the strength of your awareness, spending a little more time on the areas that are weak.
Ayurveda prescribes regular massaging of the body with sesame and neem or cinnamon oil for strong and healthy joints.

Health Tip# Monsoons are inviting for the mosquitoes and with them diseases like Dengue, Malaria and Chikungunia. As a precaution, have 1 tbsp tulsi juice daily. Mix tulsi leaves with equal amount of water and grind to paste. Squeeze juice through a muslin cloth. Add raw organic honey in 1:2 (tulsi juice) ratio.
