How safe is it to use talcum powder on your baby?

During a recent survey conducted by The American Academy of Pediatrics were totally against the talcum powder to be used on babies as there is a high risk of respiratory problems.

The AAP points out that the baby powder can cause breathing trouble and serious lung damage for babies if they inhale the particles.

even small amounts of powder can irritate a babys tiny lungs especially if the baby is at high risk for respiratory illness. those at high risk include premature babies babies with congenital heart disease.
