Newsflash: Your phone is dirty. Like, really dirty. It\'s crawling with germs and bacteria that can cause acne and even nasty rashes. And if you take your phone to the bathroom often, it could also be covered in fecal matter. Yikes. So make sure to clean it regularly. 1. It's causing breakouts.

Newsflash: Your phone is dirty. Like, really dirty. It's crawling with germs and bacteria that can cause acne and even nasty rashes. And if you take your phone to the bathroom often, it could also be covered in fecal matter. Yikes. So make sure to clean it regularly. Just dab a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and lightly go over the screen and case (avoid the phone's charging port or other openings).

2. It's keeping you up at night.

You know what that means — you're begging for dark undereye circles. Seriously, sleeping with your cellphone (either in your bed or nearby) is a big no no if you want a good night's rest. And the blue light emitted from your phone ruins a sound slumber, making you feel more tired. If you don't get enough sleep, your skin will look dull. It can also make your eyes puffy. Have we convinced you to turn that phone off at night yet?

3. It can burn your face.

Phones overheat after lots of use and it can get too hot for the sensitive skin on your face. The added heat can also mess with your melanin production, creating unwanted dark spots that are really hard to erase.

4. It can give you wrinkles.

If you're constantly squinting to read the tiny text on your screen, get ready for premature wrinkles around the eyes. And that's not it. Constantly looking down at your phone can lead to saggy jowls (thanks a lot gravity!). Another bad side effect of looking down: "text neck," which can cause neck, shoulder, and back pain. So consider bringing your phone closer to eye level when you want to read or answer your messages. Your skin and neck will thank you.

5. You may be allergic to your phone.

According to a recent study, if you have a sensitivity to allergens like nickel, cobalt, and chromium, and your phone's case is made with those elements, you could develop "Mobile Phone Dermatitis." Sounds mild, but your skin could become inflammed and even blister. iPhone and Android users don't fret — your phones didn't test positive for nickel or cobalt in the study.
