The year 2017 is coming to an end. How well did you spend it? Are you satisfied with the goals and resolutions met? Majority of us will agree that it could have been more productive! But just don’t fret; it’s time to look forward to the year that’s about to start.

Look at 2018 as a positive year to write for the next chapter of your life. Plan some resolutions that will make 2018 great year (not just good) for your personal as well as professional development. Read on and find below the seven ideas to kick-start the year 2018 with amazing new year’s resolutions:

1) Time to bring back those Yoga Mats

If this year your exercise regime has been mediocre, regular exercise should be on your list of new year’s resolutions for 2018.

Remember, “Making excuses burns zero calories per hour.” Your body is in its best shape when you stick to a regular exercise regime. So, lose the excuse "I don't have the time" and make yoga or any other form of exercise a regular part of your schedule. Not only will it be phenomenal for your body, but it will also clear your mind.

2) Set Short-Term and Long-Term Goals

Set long-term (12-months) and short-term (6-week) goals based on the SMART criteria, i.e. goals which are Specific, Measurable, Assignable, Realistic, and Time-related. It is important to address what we’re working towards, but it’s equally crucial to set goals which are attainable.

What do we mean by this? You could write down that you want to buy a Lamborghini by the end of 2018, but is that actually possible? Although not impossible, but it isn’t very likely either. So, your goals could be based on the smart principles which are achievable.

Instead, you can write down the milestones that you want to pass with your YouTube channel let’s say, or revenue goals for your projects, or personal weight loss goals, like losing three kg in 4 weeks (Short-term).

3) Make Daily Personal Development a Habit

Make daily personal development, non-negotiable part of your routine. It will help you start the day focused, motivated & inspired. You will come across many articles that list what the most successful people in the world do every day. Personal development is almost always part of their morning routine.

You can do the same. Read an inspiring book, learn new words, feed yourself every day with a positive thought. You can just subscribe to ‘Wikipedia’s Featured Article Mailing List’. You will receive an email each morning containing featured article for that day. It's that simple!

4) Join a Class

Whether you have an untapped interest in photography or have always wanted to learn how to make perfect pizza from scratch, take a class. This class will infuse you with energy and knowledge to tackle new challenges.

If you have a child old enough to take a class, consider signing up along with him. Learn guitar, or for that matter charcoal painting. Do something new that you always wanted to for a long time. Trust us; it will be not only your stress-buster but also your energy-booster.

5) Volunteer for Good Deeds

In 2018, let your good deeds fill the cup, set the resolution to do good for others. By indulging in volunteering and good acts, you will not only be helping others but also be benefiting yourself.

Volunteering makes your life more meaningful, gives you a sense of purpose, increases your self-esteem, and makes you happier.

6) Travel More

Plan a vacation time for your family. This world is a beautiful place, with many enchanting things to see.

In 2018, visit the places you’ve always wanted to see. At least try to visit two new places. This will refresh your mind, and you can get a personalised family time as well.

7) Get a Health Insurance

Read this famous saying about health insurance; it makes sense, "Buy health insurance when you don't want it, because you may not get it when you want it."

We don't act at the right time, and when we realise that we have made a mistake, we try to over-compensate by buying too much insurance. Hence, having the best health Insurance is necessary for every individual, taking into account the rising medical costs and a spurt of lifestyle diseases.

Make a resolution to buy the best mediclaim policy for family and make them secure. For the best health insurance, you will need best health insurance companies in India with best health insurance plans. Research and compare online. Know which plans will be your best fit and act accordingly.

Why so early you may ask? Here’s an example: At 25, a plan with Rs 5 lakh coverage would cost you around Rs 5000 when you are 25 years old. But at the age of 35 you will have to shell out around Rs 6000, and at the age of 45, the cost may rise to Rs 8000. So, buy the best health insurance as early as possible to get the lowest possible premium rates.

Conclusion:

Treat 2018 like a blank book. You can write anything you want in it. Fill the pages of your notebook with your creative and must-have new year resolutions.
Use the ideas mentioned above as your starting point. Live your life by setting resolutions to make 2018 your best year till now.
