Ever wonder what the 16 year old you would make if your life right now? She would be proud of your independence, pretty stroked about your sex life and somewhat less than thrilled with your beauty routine.

Adulthood to many of us was characterised by certain physical makers of having it together: manicured nails, swishy hair and toned upper arms. But the reality is that between work and trying to have a social life, not many adults have time for self care rituals.

Or the money, tbh. And the signs of ageing that Teenage you never worried about? Well, they’re all too real. So were here to propose a compromise, a practical mid way point between expectation and reality that works for you, and the 16 year old you once were.

The dreams we had of an elaborate vanity stacked to the brim with the right skincare products to eliminate our oncoming signs of ageing are long gone. Today, we spend most of our mornings glaring at our image in the mirror, counting the new wrinkles, crows feet and dark spots that keep popping up every day.

COMPROMISE

now whiles it’s true that you can’t use a home remedy instead of a product for every skincare issue you may have. Most anti ageing problems can be taken care with ingredients from your kitchen. For example, rose water is known for its deep cleansing properties, but is also extremely efficient at tightening your skin. Another great anti ageing ingredient is coconut milk. It is a treasure trove of minerals and vitamins, and has the ability to moisture your skin and keep it soft supple and radiantly young.

Adulting involves boring things like daily commutes, working lunches and weekend off sites. We’re just glad if we can remember to eat a meal on time, forget actually hitting the gym every day.

COMPROMISE

If you want to get healthier, first get organised. Start off by listing down everything you want to change in a little journal. If you sleep poorly, make fixing that your first priority. You’ll be surprised as to how effective this can be in getting you closer to your dream body. Keep your phone away an hour before your bedtime literally bore yourself to sleep, if that’s what it takes go for a daily 30 minute walk. You don’t have to drastically change your lifestyle just a few minor tweaks, and you’ll feel your energy levels picking up.
