Just have a day to explore New York? Here we layout a menu of sights, photo-ops, food and shopping to put you in an Empire state of mind.

Twenty four hours in New York City is anything but enough, but if that’s all you have, we’ve curated a very doable and satisfying list of things to do to get you in the spirit of the greatest city of the world.

WALK IN THE PARK
There are very few places in the world more loved than Central Park. This public park encompasses forest paths, ponds and fountains, performances spaces, a zoo, conservatory garden and water bodies. Spread a blanket and bask in the sunshine of the sheep meadow or the Great Lawn, the two celebrated stretches of green inside the park. Feeling peckish? Settle down to a hearty meal of burgers, sweet potato fries and fresh salads at the Tavern on the green, an institution that’s been around since 1930. Just outside the fences of the park, you’ll find world class museums, like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Nature History, the Solomon R Guggenheim museum, the Jewish Museum And Museum of the city of New York. Exit from the Central Park West gate and cab it to the met in under 10 minutes.

DISAPPEAR INTO THE MET
Once at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, you’re guaranteed to lose track of time, exploring exhibits and galleries that stock the worlds greatest collection of paintings breathtaking sculptures his sons is a must and even a restored Egyptian temple gifted by a Roman emperor to the United States.

HEAD TO THE TOP
The cheapest way to get to the Rockfeller Centre from The Met is the Line 28 bus. Even if you’ve grown up on a diet of King Kong films, you’re better off picking the Rockefeller centre instead of the Empire State Building. The top of the Rock observation deck here offers the most stunning 360 degree views of the city.

STOP AT THE STATION
A 10 minutes walk from 30 Rockfeller Plaza will take you to the grand central terminal don’t forget to look up at the glorious constellations painted on the marble ceiling of the main hall. Grab a quick coffee from the European style food hall downstairs before hopping onto a line 5 subway train to Battery Park

CRUISE PAST LIBERTY
You can take a ferry to liberty island, but we recommend just cruising past the lady of Liberty in a circle line sightseeing cruise or the Staten Island ferry. The cruise ferry will take you out to the Statue of Liberty and bring you back to Manhattan in an hour.

BROWSE AT CHELSEA
Back in Manhattan, take a cab to the Chelsea neighbourhood. A walk through the market will help you find some great art, fashion and home decor buys. We recommend the Anthropologie store and Artiste and fleas, a space dedicated to independent labels and artists.

DINE AT BUDDAKAN
Out on the streets, walk into BUDDAKAN for a lavish Asian dinner and innovative cocktails. Try the edamame dumplings. Asian green stir fry. And the spiced eggplant and tofu. Wash it all down with the fate cocktail and treat yourself to the crying chocolate cake.

STOP TRAFFIC AT TIMES SQUARE
Stand under the lights at Times Square and watch people from all over the world make memories here. Before calling it a night, walk back to Lillies Victorian Establishment for their delicious Blackberry Bramble cocktail
