templeMedak: Durga Bhavani temple at Edupayala has been decked for the Maha Sivaratri. Situated amidst the the Manjira River which got naturally divided into seven streams, the picturesque temple would be visited by thousands of devotees everyday. The Manjira River gets naturally divided into seven streams and converges again after the temple. The sanctum sanctorum is situated in a cave amidst the huge boulders. People dearly call Manjira as Garuda Ganga here and the seven streams were named after seven rishis � Jamadagni, Atri, Kasyapa, Viswamitra, Vasishta, Bharadvaja and Gautama. Recognising the importance of the temple, the State government has been organizing celebrations every year under the aegis of the district collector. District collector Dinkar Babu who conducted review meeting warned the officials of stern action if there were any complaints from the devotees. He said that in view of the convenience of the devotees, 0.25 tmc water has been released from Singur dam. Three day jatara would commence on Sunday which would be inaugurated by the government whip Turpu Jayaprakash Reddy. He would submit the silk robes to the presiding deity on behalf of the state government. Temple trust board chairman Prabhakar Reddy said that all facilities were being provided to the devotees at Edupayala. Trainee SP B Aditya said that security arrangements were beefed up. He said that five DSPs, eight CIs, 47 Sis and 900 constables were deployed for taking care of devotees. Medak sub collector Bharati Hallikeri is personally supervising the arrangements.
