Thousands throng Edupayala jatara

Medak: Thousands of devotees thronged Edupayala Vana Durga Bhavani Mata Jatara at Nagasanpalli village in Papannapeta mandal on Monday. The three-day jatara began on a colorful note on Sunday after Sangareddy MLA and Government whip Turpu Jayaprakash Reddy presented silk robes, gold crown and necklace to the deity. People across from Telangana and Maharashtra thronged the temple to pay their obeisance. The temple Executive Officer Prabhakar Reddy and Executive Officer Kishan Rao made elaborate arrangements in view of heavy influx of devotees. It is estimated that 10 lakh people would take part in the three-day jatara. Priests performed special pujas to the deity as per tradition. Thousands took holy dip in the river believing that the Goddess would rid of their sins.
