Stop sand smuggling, Collector tells officials

Sangareddy (Medak): District Collector A Dinkar Babu instructed the mandal-level officials here on Monday to stop illegal sand transportation from various mandals in the district. Addressing the officials of the divisions and mandals in the district, he said that the officials could take the help of police if necessary to curb the menace of illegal sand transportation. He instructed the officials to mark the sand reaches in the respective mandals. People who applied for sand for personal use could be allowed to transport sand, he said. The applications received by the VRO should be sent to the tahsildar for granting permission, he added. Only tractors and bullock carts should be allowed for sand transportation, he said. Referring to the ground water over exploitation, he said that bore well which were sunk without permission from the Groundwater Department, should be seized. In the case of sinking of borewells, reasonable gap should be maintained between two borewells. He said. He said that Kalajathas would tour the district from April 14 and instructed the officials to make necessary arrangements for them to present the playlets highlighting the importance of SC,ST sub plan.
