Medak observes bandh to protest against CM remarks

Sangareddy: Normal life was disrupted in Medak district due to bandh called by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Friday amidst of large-scale arrests of TRS leaders and workers though out the district.

However, the bandh had partial effect in the Sangareddy town as the local Congress MLA Jagga Reddy actively opposed the bandh. Some TRS workers allegedly torched two RTC buses at the Collectorate and Chervukatta in Sangareddy when the RTC operated buses from the local depot after the police arrested agitating TRS workers.

Most of the shops, Cinema Halls and other commercial establishments throughout the district were shut. The TRS called for the bandh to protest against the 'caustic' comments made by the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy against the party supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao on allotment of Bayyaram Iron Ore mines to Visakhapatnam steel plant.

In Sangareddy town, police arrested several supporters of MLA Jaggareddy when they tried to force the shopkeepers to re-open their shops. A In Siddipet, TRS MLA T Harish Rao staged a dharna in front of the RTC depot along with party workers and prevented the RTC buses from going out.

Later, the police arrested 50 TRS workers along with Harish Rao and took them to the police station. In Dubbaka, the former MLA S Ramalinga Reddy and 50 workers were arrested. At several places, the police took TRS workers and leaders in to custody when they tried to enforce bandh in the district. Meanwhile, the Congress MLA Jaggareddy claimed that the bandh evoked poor response.
