He was addressing the review meeting here organized by the District Blindness Control Society on Tuesday. The collector said that 141 students of various schools were selected for eye surgeries in the district. "Similar surgeries should also be undertaken in Medak and Siddhipet area hospitals," he added. He underlined the importance of setting up an eye bank at Sangareddy. Suggesting to the non-governmental organizations to undertake more surgeries, the collector cleared the bills for the earlier operations. He said that the government officials should strive to dispel superstitions among people.

The collector said that the government hospitals should maintain cleanliness to attract more patients than the corporate hospitals. Additional Joint Collector BNVVN Murthy, District Medical and Health Officer Dr C Ranga Reddy, Orthopaedic surgeons Dr G Amar Singh and Dr D Ramababu, district hospital superintendent and others were present.

DRESS DISTRIBUTED: The district collector distributed shirts, skirts, jerkins, boots and others to the children of four Anganwadis and child care centres here on Tuesday. Seva Child Society sponsored the programme conducted under the aegis of district women and child welfare department. The collector complimented the efforts of Benzman Raju, director of Seva Child Socity.

Project director Sailaja said that dress, boots and toys would be distributed to all the children in the Anganwadis and child care centres. Benzman Raju said that the Society aims at keeping every child, though poor, healthy and clean. He said that in this programme alone, 300 children were covered. Bala Sadan superintendent Sudha Rani, Bala Bharati, Ram Reddy, nutrition consultant Sankarachari, CDPO Aruna, DCPO Ratnam, Bhaskar, ICPS staff, Gopal, Nagaraju and other staff of the society were present.
