Bangaru Talli a boon for girls

Sangareddy (Medak): District Collector A Dinakar Babu while reviewing the Bangaru Talli scheme at the camp office here on Monday said that so far 1970 girl children were identified in the district under the scheme. He instructed the officials to identify the mother and girl child and take their photographs along with their birth certificates, Bank account details and Aadhaar card.
The officials should extensively propagate the scheme in the villages which would be beneficial to the girl child who would get Rs. 2.16 lakh by the time she completed the graduation. The coordinators said that 20-11 bonds under the Balika Samrakshana scheme had been disbursed and for 2012-13, the details were put online.
They appealed to the district collector to expedite the release the bonds. DM&HO Ranga Reddy, Mepma PD Poornachandra Rao, DRDA PD Sudhakar, ICDS PD Sailaja and Bank managers were present. Earlier, the collector inaugurated the subsidised onion sales counter at the rytu bazaar here. He said that the government has decided to supply onions on subsidy to the people keeping in view the market price. The onions would be sold at Rs. 34 a kilo, he added.
District needed 100 quintals of onions every day and onions would be brought from Hyderabad, he said. Joint Collector Dr A Sarath said that Siddhipet RDO inaugurated an onion counter at Siddhipet and similar counters would be opened soon in all mandals.
