copsNalgonda: In a major breakthrough in the murder of three persons at Panagallu Udayasamudram tank in the town on February 1st, the police arrested five persons who had actually participated in the murder and two others who informed the accused about the movements of the victims. Nallgonda SP Navin Gulati told newsmen here on Saturday that the accused Garlapati Sekhar, Garlapati Ganesh, Garlapati Narasimha, Kattula Sreenu and Jonnalagadda Kotaiah were arrested. All these accused persons have a long history of crime. Sekhar of Tungaturti village of Pedavura mandal was accused in eight murders, Ganesh of Halia village of Anumula mandal and Narasimha of Tungaturti were accused in two murders each, Kattula Sreenu of Tummadam village of Nidamanur mandal was involved in three murders. Jonnalagadda Kotaiah belongs to Kampasagar village in Tripuraram mandal. Police have also arrested two others who conducted recce and informed the whereabouts of the victims to the accused persons. Isram Vijay Kumar of Tungaturti and Chennaboyina Nageswara Rao of Rajavaram in Halia mandal were also arrested for passing on information about the victims. Referring the background of the murders, the SP said that the murder saga started way back in 1992 when one Vanguri Manohar misbehaved with a woman. Vanguri Venkataiah objected to it and subsequently both were killed in separate attacks. The revenge saga continued and the warring groups emerged. In 1996, Polepalli Chinna Edaiah and Vanguri Pitchaiah were murdered in separate attacks. Things seemed cooled down for a while. However, in 2007, leaders of both the groups Vanguri Papaiah and Manimadde Venkatayya were murdered. The recently killed Vanguri Mahesh and Isram Narasaiah belonged to the group of Manimadde Venkatayya and the accused Sekhar belonged to Vanguri Papaiah group. Six murders took place between 1992 and 2007 in Tungaturti village but both the factions have been staying away from the village fearing attacks each from other group. The police said that Vanguri Mahesh had been trying to eliminate Garlapati Sekhar and sensing danger to his life Sekhar hatched the plan and got murdered Mahesh. However, the other two were killed just because they happened to be the friends of Mahesh.
