New Delhi: APCC President Botcha Satyanarayana on Wednesday said that AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh will decide soon on his visit to Andhra Pradesh. There have been demands for Antony Committee visiting Andhra Pradesh. Since both Defence Minister A K Antony and Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde are not well, they have not yet been able to finalise their visit. Digvijay Singh, who is a member of Antony Committee, could visit the State and report back to Antony Committee.

Botcha Satyanarayana apprised Digvijay Singh on the ground situation in the Seemandhra region, which has been on a boil. There have been critical pronouncements by senior Congress leaders on the style of functioning of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. Discontent has been brewing against the leadership of Kiran Reddy.

Apparently, Kiran Reddy’s remarks at a media conference in Hyderabad also figured in the discussion. Emerging from the meeting, Botcha Satyanarayana defended the Chief Minister’s remarks, saying it was not directed against the Congress High Command. The Chief Minister merely wanted the Congress to rethink its decision, which is not something objectionable.

Reacting to TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks at Manthan event earlier in the day, praising the performance of Vajpayee Government in contrast to the performance of the Congress-led UPA Government, Botcha Satyanarayana condemned the remarks, saying they were not based on facts. He did not react on Naidu sharing platform with BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

On Naidu’s charge of mishandling of T issue by the Congress, Botcha reminded the TDP leader that he had twice given letters supporting the creation of Telangana. Now, he was indulging in mudslinging against the Congress and trying to absolve himself of his earlier decision to support Telangana State.
