Arvind Kejriwal is An AAM Aadmi, Arvind Kejriwal Resign. Aam Aadmi Party founder Arvind Kejriwal's government came to a sad end when he called it quits only 49 days after being chosen as people's leader.
Aam Aadmi Party founder Arvind Kejriwal's government came to a sad end when he called it quits only 49 days after being chosen as people's leader.
Delhi's 16 million plus population had immense hope in Kejriwal whom they thought would change the system and usher in a new era of corruption-free governance. However, Kejriwal dashed the hopes of the common man by throwing it all away (read the powers) over Janlokpal Bill.
While he still has his share of loyalists, some have jumped the fence citing impracticality of Kejriwal's promises.
But, one look at the AAP founder's political career and it's easy to see that Kejriwal did break the political conventions in India.
For starters, he chose to take oath as chief minister of Delhi at Ramlila Maidan amid thousands of supporters, pledging to cleanse the system.
He did make an attempt to live up to the promises he made in his manifesto. To begin with, he drew flak from VIPs when he put into action the Apex Court order by banning use of red and blue beacons on government vehicles.
As Dilip Pandey, an AAP spokesperson said, Kejriwal made swift decisions and acted on a majority of promises.
The AAP government also fulfilled its promises to offer cheap power and water.
With Kejriwal working round the clock, everything he did, said and wore too became news. Remember Kejriwal brought mufflers back in fashion?
It was for the first time, a chief minister sat on a dharna and slept on the streets. The media channels who till then had been raving about Kejriwal had suddenly turned enemies and started finding faults in every act of his. Yet, Kejriwal was unfazed and relentless in his efforts.
He was doing fine until he lost his cool and hope that prompted him to give up his CM post. It would be too premature to write him off as he would have delivered if he had continued for some more time.
However, the buzz in the political circles is that in politics, experience matters to a great deal.
You may be a good leader when it comes to movements and agitations. However, to take charge of a city and address issues that have been left pending for long isn't easy. The resentment people had built towards Congress for failing to deliver its promises, had made them restless. Naturally, they expected miracles. Kejriwal was not a man of miracles, he was a human who needed more backing and time to execute his plans.
Unfortunately, Kejriwal himself chose to cut short his regime. Now, the question is if he did it deliberately and has other plans. You never know!
