While many congratulated Digvijaya Singh many took snipes at him even as he raised objections saying that it was invasion of his private life.

The AICC general secretary and incharge of AP affairs admitted to his relationship with TV anchor and said he will marry her after her divorce from her first husband.

Digvijay Singh, 67, and Amrita Rai, 43, have both tweeted declaring their relationship in their twitter posts. In his tweet, Digvijay Singh said, “I have no hesitation in accepting my relationship with Amrita Rai. She and her husband have already filed a mutual consent divorce case. Once that is decided, we would formalize it. But I do condemn encroachment in our private life.” His wife, a cancer patient, had died last year.

Amrita Rai said, “I have separated from my husband and we have filed a mutual consent divorce papers. After which I have decided to marry with Digvijay Singh.”

Smarting under the controversy of Narendra Modi deserting his wife Jasodhaben, the BJP has seized on the issue to square up with the Congress. He had left the column blank while filing papers on previous occasions. BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said, “A new definition of morality has been given by the actions of Digvijay.”
