Faizan Sultan\'s Arrest Sheds Light On IM Activities, Reveals ISI Upset With IM For Not Striking Lok Sabha Elections. Pakistan’s Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) is believed to be extremely upset with Indian Muhahideen (IM) founders, Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal, as well as the chief of Jammat-ud-Dawa, Hafiz Saeed. ISI supposedly severely reprimanded them for their failure to eliminate any top Indian politician during the Lok Sabha elections.
The Bhatkal brothers stay in Karachi and operate out of the city. They are said to be under direct ISI supervision.
This shocking disclosure has been made by a top IM operative, Faizan Ahmed Sultan, to the NIA and Central intelligence agencies, during custodial interrogation. Sultan was deported from Sharjah last week, and was formally arrested by the NIA on his arrival in Delhi.
Sultan is said to be a close associate of IM’s former India chief, Yasin Bhatkal, and is said to be one of the main fundraisers of the terror outfit in the Gulf region. He is also said to be in charge of organising logistical support for IM operatives. NIA sources revealed that he had arranged travel documents for IM cadre from Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Sharjah.
Intelligence sources claimed that since Sultan had been closely associated with Yasin Bhatkal he had access to large amounts of information concerning the working of IM , its association with ISI and other crucial correspondents.
The IM is believed to have appointed Hafiz Saeed, one of the most wanted terrorists in India, to ask Lashkar-e-Tayyaba to also target political leaders during the campaigning. Lashkar’s failure is supposed to have upset the ISI further.
Sultan, who has been in the custody of NIA for six days, also revealed that the ISI had established detailed plans to cause devastation during India’s Lok Sabha campaign.
In spite of the attempt to target Narendra Modi’s rally in Patna, the organisation was not able to carry out any other major incident.
“If Faizan is to be believed, the ISI top brass has virtually given an ultimatum to the IM top brass to perform or perish,” a senior official revealed. He added that due to the continuous pressure from the ISI, the Bhatkal brothers too “are desperate to get out of Pakisatan, and are looking to relocate”.
“The ISI saw Lok Sabha elections as a good opportunity to conduct a big-ticket incident, but the IM failed as most of its top cadre, including Yasin Bhatkal, were arrested,” the official said.
Sultan claimed that there is no shortage of funds for outfits like IM and Lashkar as they have a huge network of sympathizers in Gulf and Saudi Arabia who contribute generously to them, sources added. These sympathizers also provide logistical support and safe hide outs to the members of these organisations.
