President Pranab Mukherjee Decides Not To Vote In Elections To Express His Political Neutrality. President Pranab Mukherjee has made the decision not to vote in the Lok Sabha elections, in order to express his “neutrality in the political fray”.

President Pranab Mukherjee has made the decision not to vote in the Lok Sabha elections, in order to express his “neutrality in the political fray”. Though he had completed the formalities for voting through postal ballot, becoming him the first Head of State to do so, he decided not to exercise his right, following the steps of his predecessors.

The President’s Press Secretary, Venu Rajamony, said on Friday, “The President in order to express his neutrality in the political fray has decided not to cast his ballot.”

Pranab Mukherjee is the 14th President of India. He had ordered a postal ballot so that he could cast his vote for the South Kolkata Lok Sabha seat which goes to polls on May 12th, he is a registered voter in 160 Rashbehari.

South Kolkata will see a contest with Congress’ Mala Roy and BJP’s Tathagata Roy.
