Modi gave a good start to the day with a visit to Rajghat where he offered tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The prime minister-designate clad in his trademark kurta with an overcoat also met party veteran and former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee to seek his blessings.

The event will be a first in Indian history where several heads of states from across the globe have given their nod to attend the swearing-in ceremony of a leader who changed the face of Indian election campaigning.
