New Delhi: BJP veteran and NDA Working Chairman L K Advani has been refused a room in Parliament House and has been shunted out of Room No 4, which he has been occupying for several years now. Advani has had unpleasant experiences. After sharing the seat with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the opening day in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, like he did during the Vajpayee Government from 1999-2004, when he sat next to the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Advani on Thursday had to move away, though he did find a seat in the front row.

Later in the day, Advani was forced to walk into Room No 2, which is the BJP Parliamentary Party office, after being refused entry in Room No 4 and was forced to sit along with party MPs. The Room No 4, which was given to NDA Chairman Atal Behari Vajpayee by the erstwhile Congress-led UPA Government in 2004, was later used by Advani, when he became NDA Acting Chairman. Now Room No 4 will be kept vacant for Vajpayee, who is bed-ridden and not even a sitting MP.The exercise was taken up as part of the reallocation of rooms in the new dispensation. Room No 13, which was occupied by Pranab Mukherjee as Leader of the House in Lok Sabha from 2004-2012 and later by Sushil Kumar Shinde in the same capacity from 2012-2014, has been taken over by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has been given the room occupied by his predecessor on the ground floor.

M Venkaiah Naidu has got two rooms, Room No 7 as Urban Development Minister and Room No 14 as Parliamentary Affairs Minister. Railway Minister D V Sadanand Gowda has been allotted Room No 6, which is earmarked for the Railway Minister. For the last five years, Advani has been using Room No 4 all by himself as NDA Acting Chairman, even while retaining the nameplate of Vajpayee as NDA Chairman, with his own nameplate as NDA Working Chairman. Advani had recast the room and had it tastefully decorated. Now, Advani has to sit either in the Lok Sabha, or in the Central Hall of Parliament or in the BJP office in Room No 2.
