Lalit Modi Has PM Support, Says Janata Dal Leader Ali Anwar. Janata Dal Party leader Ali Anwar on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of supporting Lalit Modi over the controversy surrounding him wherein External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj facilitated travel documents for the former IPL czar.

New Delhi: Janata Dal Party leader Ali Anwar on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of supporting Lalit Modi over the controversy surrounding him wherein External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj facilitated travel documents for the former IPL czar.

"The Prime Minister's promise that 'he will neither eat nor let anyone eat' has been proved forged. JDP believes that the BJP has the freedom to turn the tables in their favour," said Anwar.

"The true face of the BJP has been exposed. It is clearly understood that it has been proved that just to save their own people, to benefit them, be it a criminal or a fugitive they will help them. The whole party is supporting to save them. The whole of this matter is known by Modi ji," he said.

"Without taking senior Modi's blessings, junior Modi will not take this big risk

for this step. Without his cognition, nobody will dare take this risk. He has that kind of awe, status and dominance that no one without PMO's permission can hire a private secretary, so they cannot take this big a step. Nothing is hidden; all this morality is for others. Their people are free to do anything," he added.

On Friday, the Congress had said there was a need for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get off his 'Lalitaasan' as soon as possible and take steps to come clean on the move by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Lalit Modi's legal counsel Mehmood Abdi had earlier claimed that the former IPL chief was being hounded by the UPA Government both in India and during his extended stay in London.

Meanwhile, in more trouble for the BJP, which has been defending Swaraj, despite opposition demands that she be sacked for helping Lalit Modi, the former IPL boss has claimed that Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had secretly supported his immigration plea in Britain.
