Mumbai: The story of Geeta, an Indian stuck in Pakistan after accidentally crossing over as a child, has inspired actor Salman Khan to play the real "Bajrangi Bhaijaan," his character in the eponymous film that has made waves on both sides of the border.

Geeta, the Indian girl who strayed into Pakistan 14 years ago and since then a foundation has been taking care of her. It could become a typical case of art imitates life as Bajrangi Bhaijaan shows how an Indian man goes out of his way to take a little Pakistani girl home across border.

“We wondered if Salman Khan could become a real Bajrangi here and it seems he did! Ansar Burney, Former Expert Advisor in the United Nations on Human Rights, Pakistan’s former Federal Minister for Human Rights and Senior Lawyer, tweeted that the actor did connect with him!

Burney tweeted, “Salman Khan offers to help Geeta. Asks director Kabir Khan to find out how he can help Geeta meet her family @SushmaSwaraj @MehrTarar.” As if on cue, director of Salman’s latest hit did get back to him with a message promising every possible help that he can render. Edhi Foundation where Geeta is housed has been cooperating with every official and NGOs in the country and India to make sure Geeta goes back home but nothing has happened yet.

However, with Salman’s initiation things might look up for Geeta. He truly is a Bajrangi Bhaijaan kyunki ek bar jo woh commitment kar de to woh apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta! Here’s hoping Geeta returns home to India soon.

Geeta can recognise the Indian map but she has not been able to give much more to go on. Officials at her shelter believe she tries to say that her father is from Jharkhand and mother from Telangana. She has also conveyed that she has 11 siblings, including four sisters.
