The nine Congress MLA's have finalised to join the saffron party next week.

The Congress MLA's Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Pradan Baruah, Pallav Lochan Das, Rajen Borthakur, Binanda Saikia, Abu Taher Bepari, Bolin Chetia, Kripanath Mallah met the BJP's national president and desire to join the party.

AITC MLA Dwipen Pathak also met Amit Shah and desired to join the party.

Earlier, former Health and Education minister of Tarun Gogoi led government Himanta Biswa Sarma had joined the saffron party.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also met Amit Shah with the nine Congress MLA's said that he will resign from the Assam assembly within two or three days.

"Not only the nine MLA's, another 10 Congress MLA's including a minister will join BJP within short period, " Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Congress was in power in Assam in 2011 with 78 MLA's in the 126 Assam assembly.
On other Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta said that the party will sack all nine MLA's who have desired to join BJP.
