India-Sri Lanka have a huge stake in each other's success and stability and development in our region.
I informed him of the steps we are taking to encourage Indian fishermen to take up deep sea fishing.
Our progress is important for our two countries. PM and I had excelled discussion today on common development.
We would like to see our trade grow and become more stable with Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka has voted wise this year for change, reforms, reconciliation and progress.
I assured Prime Minister Wickremesinghe of continuing commitment to our development partnership.
We just finished an absorbing test series. We shall all miss the great Kumar Sangakkara on the cricket field.

This is a historic year for India-Sri Lanka relations.
We had the honour of hosting Sri Lankan President on his maiden foreign visit.
As a close neighbor and friend we wish Sri lanka every success and assure India's unwavering support.
We are confident Sri Lankan will achieve all round development.
And Sri Lankan Tamils can achieve a life of dignity and prosperity.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrema, who is accompanying Wickremesinghe, said that the focus of the visit will be more than just negotiations on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement which covers only trade and services.

He added that, Sri Lanka is keen to have stronger ties with India on areas such as investment, technology, education, agriculture, industrial development and culture.

Wickremesinghe arrived here on Monday on a three day bilateral visit. This is his first official international visit after assuming the Prime Minister's office last month.
