Bomb scare on Falaknuma Express

Howrah: Five unclaimed pipe-like objects, wrapped in a polythene sheet, were found from a vacant compartment of Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express at Howrah station on late Tuesday night, triggering a bomb scare.

A senior GRP official said the railway staff discovered the packet while cleaning the coach after the train arrived at platform 17 of Howrah station Tuesday night.

The packet was taken away and examined by the bomb disposal squad after cordoning off one corner of platform number one, the official said.

However, the movement of local and long distance trains from different platforms remained unaffected, he said.
