Government of Karnataka allots 600 acres for HAL Helicopter Project
Karnataka has always been a pioneer in the aerospace sector and today they add another feather to their cap - The State recently approved the HAL Helicopters Project in Tumakuru District with an investment of over Rs. 5000 Crores and handed over 600 acres of Government land to HAL to implement the project.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the HAL Helicopter Project on January 3rd, 2016.
In the wake of the upcoming Invest Karnakata 2016, 72 projects worth Rs 14000 crores have been cleared in the Aerospace and Defence sector by the State so far. The sectors is proposed to create 30,000 job opportunities in Karnataka. Projects in the pipeline to set up facility in the Aerospace Park include:
- Boeing Company – Global Engineering Center
- Saffran
- Rolls Royce
- Air Bus
Defense & Aerospace Cluster in NIMZ Tumkur: To utilize the potential in the sector State Government has proposed to establish a dedicated and an exclusive “Defence and Aerospace Cluster” to support manufacturing of components, systems and sub-systems, as also to take up export of finished products and to provide a range of auxiliary units across Avionic, Forging and other sectors.
Aerospace Policy 2013 – 23:Government of Karnataka, realizing the importance of Aerospace and Defence Industry, announced Country’s first Aerospace Policy 2013 – 23 for overall development of the sector with an objective to position Karnataka as a Globally recognized Aerospace Destination by providing adequate infrastructure and incentives & concessions.
Bangalore Aerospace Park / SEZ:The State has established a sector specific Aerospace Park in about 1000 acres of land adjacent to BIAL, which includes 252 acres of Aerospace SEZ. Wipro Aerospace, Thyssenkrup, Amada, Starraghekhert have already commenced operations in the park. Other projects including HAL, Tyco Electronics are in different stages of implementation.Mahindra Aerospace has started its operation at Narsapura Industrial Area, Kolar District
Aerospace Common Finishing Facility:The State has proposal to setup “Aerospace Common Finishing Facility” (ACFF) with heat treatment, plating, surface treatment and common testing facilities at an estimated cost of Rs. 96 crores, of which 50% will be in the form of grant from GOI.
Aerospace Technology Innovation Centre:It is also proposed to establish “Aerospace Technology Innovation Centre” in Bangalore Aerospace Park to provide R&D Support particularly to SME’s in the sector by involving stakeholders of aerospace industry, for which State Government will provide land and financial support.
e-Udyami:The state has introduced “e-Udyami” a completely online based one stop shop for all prospective investors, which allow all investors independent of their location to apply for approval of projects for investments in Karnataka and to monitor the status of projects implementation.
