Policeman killed in J&K encounter with terrorists
A police personnel was killed and another was injured in an ongoing encounter between the security forces and terrorists in Allah Pir, Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday.
​Poonch: A police personnel was killed and another was injured in an ongoing encounter between the security forces and terrorists in Allah Pir, Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday.
According to reports, the police received information of heavily-armed terrorists hiding in an under construction government building in the outskirts of Poonch. On surrounding the building, the forces came under heavy fire, killing one policemean and injuring another. Reports added that two to three militants are believed be holed up inside the building.
The encounter reportedly began at 7:50 am in the morning near Army’s 93 Brigade headquarters in the district and is currently under-way.
Shops and business establishments are closed in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the ongoing unrest in the Valley, even as preparations are underway for the Eid-ul-Azha which falls on Tuesday. The protests entered 65th day on Sunday.
