New Delhi: Restricted from meeting the family of a former soldier who committed suicide demanding implementation of the OROP scheme, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will now visit the veteran's village on Thursday.

"Will go to their village and meet Ram Kishan (Grewal) ji's family there today (Thursday)," Kejriwal tweeted.

Ram Kishan Grewal, 70, a former Rajputana Rifles soldier, belonged to Bamla village in Bhiwani, Haryana. He allegedly took poison at a park on Tuesday night and died demanding the immediate implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal went to Lady Hardinge Medical College to meet Grewal's family. But the meeting did not take place as the members were detained by the Delhi Police.

When Kejriwal tried to meet the detained family members, he was taken into custody and kept at the R.K. Puram Police Station till late night.

He was only let off around midnight.

Kejriwal also attacked the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led central government and alleged them of 'goondagardi'.

"History repeats. During Anna (Hazare) movement, the Congress did goondagardi while hiding behind Delhi Police. Now the BJP is doing goondagirdi while hiding behind Delhi Police," he tweeted.
