New Delhi: Two persons were apprehended with Rs 27 lakh in new currency notes at Nizamuddin Railway Station, the city police said on Thursday evening.

Ajit Pal Singh and Rajender Singh, both residents of Pitampura in Delhi, were arrested by a team of Delhi Police Crime Branch.

"They were carrying Rs 27 lakh in new currency notes from Nizammudin Railway Station," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said.

They were nabbed at the station with the cash, which they had brought with them from Mumbai, the police officer said.

The Income Tax Department and Intelligence Bureau officials, along with a team of the Crime Branch personnel are jointly interrogating them, Yadav added.
