New Delhi : Fifty chartered flights have been arranged to ferry passengers for the marriage ceremony of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s daughter Ketki in Nagpur. At least 10,000 guests are flying down to Nagpur for the wedding ceremony, reported the Hindustan Times. But Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s office on Sunday rejected the claim terming them ‘baseless’ and ‘mischievous’, according to The Indian Express.

The statement, further said that only ten chartered flights have landed at the Nagpur airport over the last 24 hours. But there are murmurs of disapproval of such a lavish display of wealth, particularly when the Narendra Modi government demonetised high-value currency notes. “Such a lavish wedding supposedly goes against the RSS ethos, as Gadkari was groomed in RSS culture and is still a swayamsevak,” said a senior swayamsevak on condition of anonymity, according to the report.

Gadkari's daughter Ketki, youngest of his three children, tied the knot with Aditya Kaskhedikar, who works with Facebook in the US, in Nagpur on Sunday. The marriage was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Central Ministers Rajnath Singh and Venkaiah Naidu, BJP president Amit Shah, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, MNS president Raj Thackeray, Union ministers Maneka Gandhi, Prakash Javadekar, Hansraj Ahir and Piyush Goyal, yoga guru Baba Ramdev and former Aviation minister and senior NCP leader Praful Patel were among other VVIPs present on the occasion.

While Rajnath and Shah came on Sunday morning, Fadnavis and others landed here on Saturday night. Maharashtra Ministers Chandrakant Dada Patil, Subhash Deshmukh, Pankaja Munde, Girish Mahajan, Sadabhau Khotkar and Girish Deshmukh were also present on the occasion.
