AIADMK’s Palaniswami meets the Governor
Edappadi Palaniswami, PWD and highways Minister in O Panneerselvam\'s cabinet and the loyalist of VK Sasikala, has met the Governor and staked claim to form the government
CHENNAI: Edappadi Palaniswami, PWD and highways Minister in O Panneerselvam's cabinet and the loyalist of VK Sasikala, has met the Governor and staked claim to form the government. He reportedly handed over a letter of support from 128 MLAs in substantiation to his claim of forming the government.
The senior leader was accompanied by various leaders including AIADMK presidium chairman K A Sengottaiyan and ministers D Jayakumar, P Thangamani, S P Velumani. Palaniswami submitted the letter of support from legislators to prove majority to his claim. Earlier, Palaniswami was elected as AIADMK legislature party leader by MLAs staying at the resort.
Palaniswami, a prominent Gounder leader, was chosen as the legislature party leader after the Supreme Court upheld party general secretary V K Sasikala's conviction.
The State Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao is reported to have assured Palaniswami that he would take a decision soon as per the guidelines of the Constitution.
