Madhya Pradesh Government has paid an amount of Rs 16.94-crore as rent for the point-of-sale (PoS) machines hired for public distribution system (PDS) shops.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Government has paid an amount of Rs 16.94-crore as rent for the point-of-sale (PoS) machines hired for public distribution system (PDS) shops. In a written reply in the state assembly today, the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Om Prakash Dhurve informed that the state government has installed PoS machines at all 22,403 PDS shops across the state. "State government has paid an amount of Rs 16,94,06,604 as rent of the PoS machines till September, 2016.

"These machines were hired from the service providers of Madhya Pradesh State Electronic Development Corporation," Dhurve stated in a written reply to a question asked by Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh. The Congress MLA had sought a reply from the state government that whether the PoS machines, being used at the PDS shops, were hired or purchased and amount spent on this work.

The minister informed that PoS machines were hired from two companies DSK Digital Technologies Private Limited and Link Well Tele Systems Private Limited. "The rate of DSK Digital Technologies Private Limited is Rs 1,191 per PoS machine per month, while that of Link Well Tele Systems Private Limited is Rs 1,245 per machine per month," Dhurve stated.
