Roaming tiger tranquillised in MP forest
A tiger, which has triggered panic in rural areas of Seoni district, was caught today near Khamaria village by a team of the Pench Tiger
Seoni: A tiger, which has triggered panic in rural areas of Seoni district, was caught today near Khamaria village by a team of the Pench Tiger Reserve personnel. The big cat, a four-year-old male, was tranquillised after it was spotted in the area under Barghat forest range, near Khamaria (Shukla) village. A team of tranquilising experts approached the tiger on three elephants and fired darts.
"The caged feline was later sent to the Sanjay Tiger Reserve in Sidhi district," the Pench Tiger Reserve's Regional Director Shubhranjan Sen said. Sen said the tiger, identified as T 22, was roaming in the area in recent past, triggering panic among residents. It had killed cattle. He said the big cat was also spotted in the cameras positioned in the area.
"The tiger bore the injury marks resulting from territorial clashes (with other big cats) on its body. It was given medical treatment before being shifted to the Sanjay Tiger Reserve," the Regional Director said.
