Jammu: A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

A defence spokesperson on Saturday night said that Naib Subedar S Sanayaima Kom was killed in an IED blast along the LoC in Poonch district on Saturday.

He, however, did not give details as to how the blast took place along the LoC and whether the IED was planted by cross-border militants.

The JCO was a native of Manipur and is survived by his wife and three children, he said.

"Further details will follow," the spokesman said.

Last year, militants from across the border had made several bid to target troops along LOC by planting and exploding IEDs in Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu and Samba district sector.
