Adityanath for resolving Ayodhya dispute through dialogue

Lucknow: A fortnight after the Supreme Court (SC) advised amicable settlement of the Ram Temple issue, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has echoed the same views saying that the issue should be resolved through dialogue.

In an interview with RSS mouthpiece Panchjanya Magazine, Adityanath said that he welcomed the SC’s observations on the matter. "I welcome the Supreme Court’s observations on the matter. This should be resolved amicably through dialogue. If the government’s cooperation is required at any stage then we are ready to do so," he said.

Adityanath also defended his decision to crack down on illegal slaughterhouses. Speaking about his decision to crack down on them, he said that the move was in line with the Allahabad High Court’s directives.

Talking about meat consuming, he said that while he couldn't curtail individual choice as the constitution gives the people that freedom, Adityanath said that the freedom should be exercised within a limit. "If something is illegal, it is the government’s obligation to crack down on it," he added.

On March 21, the SC advised the parties concerned to settle the Ayodhya dispute amicably as it was a sensitive and sentimental issue.
