Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said his government plans to knock every house with Gandhian philosophy. Mr Kumar announced his party's plan while he was speaking at a function related to Mahatma Gandhi visit to Muzaffarpur and his talks with Indigo planters Association chief Wilson a century ago. "We wish to take the country on the path of Gandhian philosophy," he said.

Bihar is seeing a grand celebration of 100 years of Champaran Satyagraha. Mr Kumar said his government has chalked out an elaborate programme to knock every house with life and thoughts of Bapu till April 21 next year. A rath would start its journey from Patna today across the state for a year to make people aware of different aspects of Gandhian values, he said.

Films based on Gandhiji would be shown in villages. A total of 50 stories have been chosen out of which one story would be narrated to students daily after morning prayer in schools to make them aware of the Bapu's views, he said.

Mr Kumar also said that "those whose focus is only to cash on the name of Gandhiji are also organising programmes on the occasion of centenary celebration of Champaran satyagraha."

The BJP has planned a march on April 19 at Motihari as part of centenary celebration of Gandhiji's agitation against forced indigo cultivation during British rule in 1917. BJP President Amit Shah would be present at the programme.

Mr Kumar said Gandhians have been invited from across the country to prepare a national agenda based on Bapu's ideology. In Patna, the two-day "Rashtriya Vimarsh" (national discussion) ended yesterday.

Former West Bengal Governor, Gopal Krishna Gandhi, grandson of Mahatama Gandhi, three other kins of Bapu, Raj Mohan Gandhi, Tushar Gandhi and Tara Gandhi participated in the discussion and emphasised to imbibe views of Gandhiji in life.

Gandhians like Ashok Vajpayee, Shamsul Hoda and Ramdutt Tripathi spoke on Gandhijee on the concluding day of national discussion today.

At the end of discussion, a resolution was adopted. It stressed on promoting "Jan Sahyog" (peoples cooperation) "Lok Samvad" (public discourse) in place of state's wanton discretion over use of land, river, forest, mountains.
