Hyderabad: A team of Tamil Nadu irrigation officials on Wednesday are all praise for the State government for the prestigious Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha schemes to revive lakes in an effort to give a boost to minor irrigation and provide potable waters to people.

The officials headed by Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Scheme Chief Engineer Vairavanathan said the schemes were shining examples and they can be replicated across the country. He praised the State government, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and officials for their persistent efforts. “We are happy to see the programmes through PowerPoint presentation and will sure adopt the same to revive our water bodies and ponds in Tamil Nadu,” the officials said.

During a meeting with Harish Rao at Jala Saudha here, the official team of Tamil Nadu was very much impressed at the PowerPoint presentation on two phases Mission Kakatiya. They said the revival of lakes scheme is contributing to increase the groundwater table and boosting the minor irrigation to great extent by filling lakes and water bodies to the capacity.

Mission Bhagiratha scheme is also proving handy to provide safe waters to each household the officials said.Earlier, Harish Rao explained to the Tamil Nadu official team that the Mission Bhagiratha was aimed at providing safe drinking water to people in rural areas.
