The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday fired back at Congress leader Digvijay Singh in response to his blaming Chhattisgarh Chief Minster Raman Singh for helping 'Maoists'.

The BJP said Digvijay Singh had opposed then Home Minister P Chidambaram's bid to launch an all out attack against Naxalites after they killed many Congress leaders in Dharbha Valley.

BJP leader Sudesh Verma told ANI, "Congress should not try to politicize everything. Congress had lost their valuable leaders in a Naxal attack. We should remember that Chidambaram wanted to launch an all out attack against Naxalites but it was Digvijay Singh who had opposed it, and this emboldened Maoists to carry out more lethal attacks."

This is the time to stand together as the government is trying to tackle the Naxal menace, he added.

BJP leader Nalin Kohli also castigated Digvijay Singh over his remarks on Sukma attack, in which 25 CRPF personnel were killed in an ambush by Naxalites on Monday.

He said it was extremely concerning that Congress was playing politics over dastardly Maoist attack in which 25 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans laid supreme sacrifice for the country.

He said Digvijay Singh's statement show that he has become desperate under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, whose political advisor is none other than Digvijay himself.

"Is the congress party so desperate under Rahul's non-performance that now they have resorted to such kind of politics on the sacrifice of our brave young men," questioned Kohli

He said that the Congress should reflect on it, and should also answer that have Maoists incidents only started now.

"Is it not true that Maoism flourished due to bad policies when they (Congress) were in power?"

Digvijay blamed Modi government and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for the Sukma attack and also accused the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister of 'helping' Maoists.
