New Delhi: Minister for Information Technology K Taraka Rama Rao on Monday met Union Minister Ravishankar Prasad and brought to his notice the measures adopted by the State government to develop Hyderabad and Warangal as IT hubs.
Referring to the ITIR (Information Technology Investment Region) proposed by the erstwhile UPA regime, KTR urged the Centre to revive it as it would benefit Telangana State immensely.

He sought funds for T-Fibre programme too. He explained to Ravishankar Prasad the measures taken by the State government in promoting Electronic Manufacturing, Medical Electronics and Mobile Manufacturing, etc. He invited the Union Minister for the inauguration of the prestigious hardware hub proposed by the State government.

He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had a telephonic talk with the Union Minister for Roads Nitin Gadkari on Monday regarding several projects in the pipeline. Handing over details of the same to the Minister, KTR urged the Centre to sanction Rs 1,700 crore for the Uppal-Ghatkesar-Aramghar-Shamshabad stretch and also sought funds for completing Mahbubnagar-Jadcherla four-lane highway in a stretch of seven kilometres.

KTR stated that Gadkari had directed the officials to get the details of all pending proposals and expedite the same.
Referring to the Khammam farmers agitation issue, KTR said farmers would never attack any Market Yard and it was all Congress's scheme.

The Congress could not digest the fact that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced Rs 4,000 per acre as annual incentive to farmers to reduce their burden on inputs. That the government had waived farm loans to the tune of Rs 11,000 crore was also not to its pleasure. Hence the manipulation at Khammam Market Yard and the attack on it, he said.

On his meeting with Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur, he said he urged her to allot four mega food parks to the State as well a cold storage chain for the Karimnagar dairy. He met Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, and requested him to permit construction of skyways in the defence lands as the government was prepared to allot 100 acres of land elsewhere to compensate the same.

In his meeting with Union Minister of State Jayant Sinha, KTR explained the State government's T-Fibre initiative which was aimed at providing broadband services and internet services to at least 1 crore households. The Centre should help the State government by releasing funds in advance for the broadband service as it would encourage a "working government." Sinha asked KTR to meet the Union Finance Minister too in this regard, KTR said.
