New Delhi /Hyderabad: AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi expressed his shock over the sudden demise of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Palvai Govardhan Reddy.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Rahul Gandhi said Palvai’s death was an irreparable loss to the Congress. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family. Vice President Hamid Ansari, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former Governor of K Rosaiah , TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy and others also condoled the death of Palvai Govardhan Reddy.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha and AICC general secretary, expressed his grief at the untimely demise of veteran Congress leader and the sitting Member of Rajya Sabha Palvai Govardhan Reddy.

In a statement here, Ghulam Nabi Azad said Palvai was a seasoned parliamentarian who richly contributed to the proceedings, both in the Legislative Assembly and Parliament, of which he remained member from time to time in his long span of political career. In his death, the Congress lost a great parliamentarian and a leader, he said, and conveyed his deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family.

Congress Legislature Party leader in Telangana Assembly K Jana Reddy also expressed his shock over the demise of Govardhan Reddy. Terming Reddy’s death as a colossal loss to the party, Jana Reddy conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.

He prayed Almighty for peace to Palvai’s soul. Leader of the Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir expressed his deep sorrow and grief at the untimely demise of veteran Congress leader. In a condolence message, Shabbir said the departed leader was a seasoned parliamentarian and contributed immensely to the proceedings, both in the State Assembly and Parliament.

“In his death, the Congress has lost a great parliamentarian and a leader. I express deep condolences to the members of the bereaved family,” he said.
