As many as 373 Indian scientists quit their jobs in reputed foreign institutions and returned to work in India between 2014 and 2016, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.Around 125 of them had been been absorbed in Indian institutions, minister of state for science and technology and earth sciences Y S Chowdhary said while replying to questions in the Lok Sabha.

CHENNAI: As many as 373 Indian scientists quit their jobs in reputed foreign institutions and returned to work in India between 2014 and 2016, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.Around 125 of them had been been absorbed in Indian institutions, minister of state for science and technology and earth sciences Y S Chowdhary said while replying to questions in the Lok Sabha.

Of them, 123 scientists returned under Ramanujam Fellowship offered by Department of Science and Technology (DST), and 52 got absorbed.

As many as 109 scientists returned under Ramalingaswami Re-Entry Fellowship given by the Department of Biotechnology, and 55 of them got absorbed. As many as 141 scientists returned under Inspire Faculty Scheme of the DST, and 18 got absorbed.
