New Delhi: As many as 11 lawmakers failed to cast their vote properly in the vice presidential election with 760 votes being declared valid and 11 invalid out of 771 votes polled. 14 MPs were absent from voting.

Mr Naidu who got 516 votes in his favour, defeated Mr Gandhi (244 votes) with a margin of 272 votes. He received more than two-third votes.

M Venkaiah Naidu, the candidate of the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, will be India's 15th Vice President.

A total of 771 of 785 votes, which is over 98 per cent, were cast by parliamentarians.
